For this class, Ian Gaver, Clay Poytras, and I constructed a custom made drawer and bed for the back of teacher Ande Loyd's Toyota Tacoma. We were initially supposed to contribute to the classes main project of outfitting a van into a living space but took up this opportunity with Ande instead. Here are some shots of the final product. The main components that we designed and built are the two drawers, and the frame. Ande wanted to use the space on top as a bed/flat space so we applied carpet on top. The drawers slide out by themselves, we originally intended to install tracks to mount them on but ended up finely sanding all the surfaces they slide on. We also made sure Andy could access two storage compartments on each side of the Tacoma truck bed. Pictured below is the frame and drawers before the final installation in his truck.
